The MTP-ControlEngine runs directly on the respective field or laboratory device without affecting its existing functionalities. It generates a Module Type Package (MTP) that describes the device’s functionalities.

Similar to a printer driver, this MTP file is a text-based format containing all essential module data in a universally understandable way. The necessary data points for MTP-compliant communication are provided via an OPC UA Server, which can either be pre-existing on the device or included with the MTP-ControlEngine.

This enables fast and flexible integration into various Process Orchestration Layers (POLs) and leads to significant time savings during commissioning.
