EtherGate 692DP is an easy-to-cross bridge between the worlds of manufacture and the office.
Communication at the Ethernet end of the pipeline is governed by the UDP/IP or TCP/IP protocol.
The UDP protocol is connection-independent, fast, and very easy to operate.
TCP/IP is based on the individual connection which makes it a secure protocol. EtherGate 692DP can work either as a TCP client or a TCP server.
The unit is the gateway from one PROFIBUS system to another as well as to the PC world. Several high-level visualisation languages for PCs (e.g. Delphi, Visual Basic, etc.) contain standard components for and examples of this type of connection.
The PROFIBUS DP slave connection ensures vendor independence. By means of its specific GSD file, EtherGate 692DP integrates with every PROFIBUS DP network. The easy interfacing concept applies to both new and existing systems. This allows new, innovative networking concepts to be adapted to the available hardware at a minimum of technical and financial effort.
