Description:
High availability is one of the most important requirements in industrial automation systems, as well in factory and process automation. High availability in automation systems reduces the production failures. To accomplish this, different aspects are possible, system and media redundancy. With system redundancy and dynamic reconfiguration an additional aspect of flexibility in high available automation systems has been given. This document describes the usage of PROFINET to build up a system with redundant PN controllers and single or redundant PN devices, called PROFINET System Redundancy (PROFINET SR).
