Safety-related controls with PROFINET IO Controller function require an additional communication layer for safe communication via PROFINET. PROFIsafe V2 is the communication profile for safety-related technology with PROFINET IO.
The PROFIsafe V2 F-Host Layer provides the host functionality of the PROFIsafe V2 profile. F is the abbreviation for Fail-safe or Functional safety. The PROFIsafe V2 profile uses PROFINET according to the so-called Black Channel principle. Safety-related data are complemented by additional measures for fault avoidance and transmitted as user data within the PROFINET telegrams.
The core of the PROFIsafe V2 layer is a state machine for the cyclic processing of safety-related messages and for operations like system startup and CRC error handling.
The F-Host services enable the exchange of safety-related input/output data. During system startup or in case of faults, process data are replaced by pre-defined safe values (0) in order to switch the receiving device to a safe state (without energy). Faults during safety-related communication force the F-Host layer to switch into the safe state.
Description
The PROFIsafe V2 F?Host layer is delivered to you as source code. The source code is pre-certified and protected against modification by a CRC checksum. Depending on your requirements, we offer the integration into your target platform as a customer-specific service, if needed.

- CRC calculation per look-up table or formula
- Supports optional transition T9 of the F-Host state machine for permanent storage of safety faults
